Our Recycling Journey ♻️ Why Recycling Matters to Us

At ScAnimals, recycling isn’t an add-on — it’s part of who we are. We create our products using recycled filament made from everyday waste like coffee cup lids, misprints, filament scraps, and items that don’t quite make the cut for sale. Instead of letting these materials end up in landfill, we give them a second life.

Every piece we make is designed to be fun, durable, and loved — especially by kids — while also being mindful of the impact we have on the planet.

🧵 How Our Recycling Process Works

We work with a small New Zealand recycling company that specialises in 3D printing materials.

We send items like filament "poop", prime towers and any ScAnimals prints that can’t be sold to be professionally processed and turned into recycled filament. That filament is then used to create new ScAnimals — giving plastic a second (and sometimes third) life.

Any future misprints or damaged items are returned to the same recycling loop, helping us reduce waste and keep materials in use for as long as possible.

It’s a circular process built on care, intention, and doing better where we can.
